Speak from Your Heart – Why It Matters and How It Changed Everything for Me
Have you ever felt like you’re doing everything right but still not getting through to your audience? You’re putting in the work—crafting posts, creating offers, showing up—but it feels like something is missing.
That used to be me.
For years, I tried to build an online business that truly reflected who I was. I wanted to make an impact, to help people as a coach, and to create something meaningful. So, I did what so many aspiring entrepreneurs do—I got the certifications, built a website, and started posting online.
But no matter how hard I worked, nothing seemed to connect.
🔷 My posts fell flat.
🔷 My message felt forced.
🔷 It was like I was speaking into an empty room, and no one was listening.
The Struggle to Be Perfect
I was convinced that the problem was me—or rather, that I wasn’t good enough. So, I obsessed over getting everything perfect: the perfect website, the perfect message, the perfect Instagram reel. But deep down, I was riddled with fear—fear of rejection, fear of being seen, fear that I wasn’t capable or qualified enough.
And honestly, when I looked back at my posts, I could see why they weren’t resonating. They didn’t sound like me. They sounded like someone trying too hard, someone afraid to show up as themselves.
A Surprising Turning Point: From Coaching to Pizzas
Everything changed when I decided to start a small summer pizza hut as a side-hustle. This was a complete shift from coaching, but it taught me a lesson I’ll never forget. I had to learn everything from scratch—how to make the best pizza dough, perfect my recipes, and serve up something truly delicious.
And guess what? I loved talking about our pizzas. I was speaking from my heart, and people leaned in to listen to what I had to say.
Whether I was in the grocery store, out for a walk, or chatting with someone in line at the cashier, or online, the conversation always seemed to turn to pizza.
“Yeah, I run a small pizza hut,” I’d say. “I make the most delicious pizzas—you should come and try!”
The words flowed effortlessly because I believed in what we were doing. My pizzas were amazing, and people loved them. I had no doubt in my mind that they were worth sharing.
But when it came to my coaching business? I still kept hiding behind my laptop, tweaking my website for the hundredth time, terrified to share my message with anyone.
The Missing Ingredient: Belief
Looking back, I realized that three things made it easy for me to talk about our pizzas:
- Belief in myself as a pizza chef—I had proof I could make great pizzas.
- Belief in our product—the compliments from happy customers showed me our pizzas were delicious.
- Belief in our audience—people loved our pizzas and wanted more of them.
When it came to coaching, I didn’t have those beliefs:
- I didn’t believe in myself as a coach—I had no proof that I was good at it.
- I didn’t believe in my product—I doubted whether coaching actually worked.
- I didn’t believe that people wanted or needed what I had to offer—I didn’t have clients yet, so how could I?
Without those beliefs, my message was messy and unclear. My lack of confidence came through in everything I said (or didn’t say). And that fear of rejection kept me silent when I should have been speaking up.
Why Speaking from Your Heart Matters
Here’s what I’ve discovered: Speaking from your heart is about trust, authenticity, and connection.
When you speak from your heart, people feel it. It’s like the scent of a perfume or even the vibe you emit when you walk into a room. People might not be able to put their finger on it, but they’re drawn to you because your words carry a frequency they connect with.
On the other hand, when you speak from your head—overthinking every word, second-guessing yourself—people feel that, too. They may not tell you, but it creates a disconnect. It’s like being on different wavelengths. They tune out, not because they don’t care, but because they can’t resonate with what you’re saying.
Speaking from your heart bridges that gap. It allows people to truly hear you and feel a genuine connection to your message.
